Why is your piano out of tune?

Updated: Apr 4, 2022

One of the basic reasons of why your piano is out of tune is because you have been practising daily. The more you play your piano, the more you change its tune. The reverse is also true. So make sure to regularly tune your instrument to keep it working well and sounding beautiful.

Another reason is due to the natural aspect of the instrument. Wood gets affected by humidity and quick temperature changes. The moisture your piano absorbs from the air can cause it to expand and change the overall sound produced. Dried out strings can become slack, which also affects the sound. Beware of where your piano sits - vents, windows, and direct sunlight can all impact your piano and its level of tune.

Your piano is a delicate instrument. Therefore, it is possible to lose the tune during moving or transportation. Make sure you get a professional mover if you need to move your piano to reduce the risk of losing the tune or damaging your piano.

No matter what reason your piano goes out of tune, we have the skill and ability to get your piano back to its beautiful sound quality.
